Brief History of the Internet
Started back in 1969 between two computers. Internet has had a lot of technology advances, how there is infinite source of data available to anyone at any time.
Social Networking
Social Networking has also came a long way. The first year where social media had it first social network was about 1994, since then there have major advances where you can instantly post somethings as its progressing and anyone can respond or join in on your activities. Many social media apps and sites have come and gone. Popular for a couple years, and then new an improved site come in and take over.
The first email was sent between 2 computers back in 1969. However, the first email program was introduced in 1971. As this advanced they needed ways to know who to send information too. The @ symbol was introduced separating the user and computer name.
Wikis and Blogs
Wiki was introduced u 1995, by a programmer on his website. The origination of wiki is a Hawaiian word which means quick. it was meant to help share knowledge on the website. The first recognized blog was in 1994, however the word blog didn’t really take effect until 1997. Today is wiki is a major player along with all types of blogs.
Podcast and webcasts
Podcast was introduced in 1989, the user did not have to download the cast, however the cst would buffer until the entire was heard. in 1994 the first live video of the webcast was presented over the internet. They are both widely used today between all users.
Streaming Media
The first event of streaming media was in 1995 by ESPN Sports zone. They streamed a live broadcast of a baseball game. Today streaming media is everywhere, from your cell phones to television streaming off of internet signal. Streaming media has been a big hit with the mobile users who like viewing on the go.
